As the upcoming election for Northbrook School Board District 28 approaches, I think it’s essential for voters to be well-informed about one of the biggest issues facing our district and that's the school referendum plan.

Recently, the Board of Education approved placing a referendum on the April 1st ballot seeking voter authorization to issue $94.9 million in bonds to fund a comprehensive plan to update the schools. Now, you may be thinking "Holy Cow, that's a lot of money!" but it's important to understand where that number is coming from and how it will be allocated and used to improve our schools.
Having worked in our schools (including one that's approaching its 75th anniversary), I can attest that the staff and administration have found creative ways to navigate many of the constraints of our aging facilities. However, the demands and needs of our students are exceeding what our buildings can accommodate.
I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the plan before April 1and to also listen to this podcast that helped answer a lot of questions for me.
