As the Northbrook School Board District 28 election approaches, it's crucial for voters to be informed about each candidate and their vision for the district.
Unfortunately, the School Board candidate forum was cancelled meaning that you, the voter, do not have the chance to ask all the candidates their positions about school district issues. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my concerns and goals for D28 schools.

Strengthening the Educator Pipeline
One of my top priorities is ensuring we have a strong pipeline of talented educators who feel supported and valued in our district. That means not only recruiting the best teachers but also giving them the mentorship, professional development, and resources they need to thrive. It also means utilizing the immense talent that already exists in our District and seeking to promote from within.
Maintaining Excellence in Education
At the same time, we must maintain the high standards of excellence that make our schools a place where students succeed—whether that’s through high academic standards, innovative teaching methods, or fostering a whole-child approach that prioritizes both learning and well-being. Innovation is key to preparing our students for the future, and we should continue integrating technology thoughtfully, expanding STEM and arts programs, and creating flexible learning environments that allow every child to reach their full potential.
Addressing Aging School Buildings
Finally, our school buildings need attention! Many are not just aging, but at their limit and capacity. We have to be thoughtful about long-term investments that ensure safety, modern learning spaces, and sustainability.
These challenges are interconnected, and by addressing them with strategic planning and community input, we can ensure our schools remain places of excellence, innovation, and belonging for generations to come.
